Canadian broadcaster SPACE has announced that it will be showing the first episode of Primeval spin-off Primeval: New World on Monday 29th October at 10pm ET.

The show stars Niall Matter as enterprising inventor and visionary hero Evan Cross (seen right) and Sara Canning as predator-attack expert and animal-behaviour specialist Dylan Weir. Also appearing in the series, which comprises 13 one-hour episodes, will be Danny Rahim as security specialist Mac Rendell, Miranda Frigon as Ange Finch - Cross's oldest friend and business partner, Crystal Lowe as physics prodigy Toby Nance, and Geoff Gustafson as Lieutenant Ken Leeds, head of the government's decommissioned department for investigating alien life and other mysteries. Andrew-Lee Potts will be guest-starring in the opening episode as Connor Temple from the parent series.

The North American spin-off follows a specialised team of animal experts and scientists who discover dinosaurs and other dangerous predators emerging onto the streets of modern-day Vancouver through anomalies in time. It will feature more than 70 visual effects shots in each episode and will also include 16 land, sea, sky, and sand creatures created by Atmosphere Visual Effects, supervised by Mark Savela.

An official website is to be launched soon that will feature an episode guide, cast biographies, and behind-the-scenes content. Users will also be able to download high-quality visual effects from the series and put themselves into the dino-action via green screen.

Primeval: New World is based on the original series produced by Impossible Pictures. It is produced by Omnifilm Entertainment Ltd and developed in association with Bell Media, German broadcaster ProSieben, and UKTV channel Watch. The executive producers are Martin Wood and Gillian Horvath, the creators Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens, the writers Gillian Horvath, Peter Hume, Jon Cooksey, Sarah Dodd, Katherine Collins, Dennis Heaton, and Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens, and it is directed by Amanda Tapping, Andy Mikita , Martin Wood, and Mike Rohl.
